The University of Liverpool Summer Research Programme allows students to join us for 4, 8, or 12 weeks during the summer for a 15 credit UoL module that is entirely research-based. Students will participate in research alongside one of our supervisors on a project they’re working on in their field. This gives our exchange students the unparalleled opportunity to delve into an international research environment, make international contacts in their subject areas, and gain valuable experience they may bring back to their home universities or on to future postgraduate work or employment.
This is the perfect opportunity for students who want to study abroad during the June/July/August holidays on a valuable academic experience, but who are also looking for a unique, experiential study abroad programme with flexibility and free time.
The programme dates in 2020 are as follows:
Session Start Date | Module Length | 4-week End Date | 8-week End Date | 12-week End Date |
June 1, 2020 | 4, 8, or 12 weeks | June 26, 2020 | July 24, 2020 | August 21, 2020 |
June 29, 2020 | 4 or 8 weeks | July 24, 2020 | August 21, 2020 | n/a |
July 27, 2020 | 4 weeks | August 21, 2020 | n/a | n/a |
Students should be in Liverpool by the session start dates, as this is the date on which we’ll provide an on-site orientation for students and their projects will start. Students should plan to stay for 4-week blocks, and can agree with their supervisors how long they wish to participate based on the requirements of the individual projects. All projects will carry the same number of credits no matter the length, as the hours will simply be spread over more weeks the longer the students stay.
Students may apply for up to 3 projects in their applications, and they will be placed on the one with highest preference that they are accepted to by our supervisors. The application will open on 15th January 2020, and will close 1st March 2020. We will endeavour to inform all students of their placements by the end of April, or as soon as possible once the supervisors review their applications after 1st March. You’ll notice that this year we have significantly increased our offering, and our project subjects now include:
· Architecture
· Electrical Engineering and Electronics
· Computer Science
